Fomalhaut (北落) is a progressive metal band founded in October 2006 in Beijing.

During their academic years in Beijing until 2010, they were active in various college music festivals and were spotted on the stages of live houses such as 13-club and D22. With a distinctive style rarely found in college bands and a respect for music as music itself, they had a good reputation among Beijing's underground music fan groups at the time.

After graduating in 2010, members of the band embarked overseas to study and develop their career, which led to a decade of the band's inactivity. In 2021, the band revived its music in collaborative remote recording sessions, with the well-known musician Humbug (The Sound of Things Falling) joining the team as a producer, arranger and bassist.

In March 2022, Fomalhaut released their first new single in over a decade -- 13+ minute song titled " Snow (Kar (雪))" , inspired by Pamuk's novel of the same name. This proclaims the launch of their new full-length album project. The album project, while maintaining the band's traditional poetic, slightly scholastically self-contained and eastern-inspired progressive metal style, will also feature many new breakthroughs and explorations that will surely not disappoint your music-loving expectations.
